RIVERVIEW, N.B. – A major sponsor has come forward to help out the latest Habitat for Humanity project in Greater Moncton.
Gordon Food Service Canada has donated $100,000 to help the Habitat organization purchase building supplies for the two semi-detached homes on Point Park Dr. in Riverview.
The provincial government is also chipping in $40,000.
GFS Atlantic president Cam Godin says all the money they’re donating was from contributions by their employees that was matched by the company.
“Employees would contribute $3 or $5 a week for the last three years. We did a couple golf tournaments and some smaller fundraising activities.”
Construction of the homes are expected to begin in April or May.
Habitat for Humanity hasn’t found families to move in yet, but they are accepting applications.
