Flash freeze warning in effect

Halifax will experience a 20 degree drop in temperature by midnight tonight.
Temperatures at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport were recorded at 11 degrees earlier this morning and they are forecast to drop to -10 by late tonight.
Environment Canada has issued a flash freeze warning for the region and News 95.7’s meteorologist Richard Zurawski said temperatures will plummet before the drive home, so the afternoon commute could be a tricky one.
“That means everything is going to freeze solid, your car doors, the roads,” explained Zurawski.
HRM has crews on standby to salt and sand streets and sidewalks to stay ahead of the ice, but they say those efforts will be hampered as long as it continues to rain. They are warning drivers, pedestrians and cyclists to travel with caution.
