Mounties target Halifax distracted drivers, catch a bunch

Local Mounties say they caught a bunch of drivers driving while distracted during stormy weather.

The RCMP says officers did some targeted enforcement on Sunday, and charged 17 drivers under the law that bans cell phone use while driving.

If convicted, the drivers could face a fine of $176.45.

Police say the road conditions and weather were poor, but drivers were still taking chances using their phones.

Three other drivers were arrested for drug possession.
