Police have released the name of a man who died at the Burnside Jail.
Clayton Daniel Cromwell, 23, of Halifax was unconscious and unresponsive in his cell when correctional officers found him Monday morning.
They tried to revive him but he was pronounced dead at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility.
An autopsy has not been able to determine the cause of death, but foul play is not suspected.
Cromwell had been arrested in early February after the Integrated Drug Unit searched an apartment on Tamarack Drive. Elizabeth Cromwell, 51, was also arrested. Both were charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. Clayton Cromwell faced four additional charges of breaching court orders.
Cromwell had also been arrested in a major drug bust in December, 2012 in Fairview, where police said they’d seized more than $196,000 worth of illicit drugs including cocaine, LSD, ecstasy and Dilaudid.
