Dangerous pothole causes havoc on Highway 118

Police say five drivers blew their tires or had to change them on a local highway last night because of a massive pothole.

Calls to police for assistance came in between 10:30 and 11 p.m.

Staff Sgt. Reid McCoombs told News 95.7 the crater was near exit 13A.

“It was right in the middle of a 100-series highway so obviously people are travelling faster,” explained McCoombs.  “Last night was a foggy night as well, so visibility was very poor.”

The pothole was considered a safety hazard and officers stayed on scene until the pavement was patched up by the Department of Transportation.

McCoombs added there were no injuries and that area of the highway should be fine today.
