Bluenose II faces another delay

The Bluenose II has had another setback as a pre-sea trial scheduled for today has been called off until further notice.
According to a government release, they did not receive the American Bureau of Shipping certificate needed to allow the vessel to leave the dock.
The Nova Scotia government had plans to send the schooner off to test the engine, steering and anchor this morning in Lunenburg harbour.
Earlier this month, Heritage Minister Tony Ince said he didn’t think restoration delays have tarnished its reputation and that the project’s cost has ballooned to nearly $18-million.
Premier Stephen McNeil has asked the province’s auditor general to investigate the rebuilding of the Bluenose II, refering to it as a “boondoggle”. That audit is expected to be completed some time during the 2014-15 fiscal year.
The province says they will send out notification when the trial is rescheduled.
