Mooseheads trade Luca Ciampini

The Halifax Mooseheads are heading into this weekend’s QMJHL draft in Sherbrooke full of optimism.

Today is the first day that teams in the league can officially make trades in the run up to the draft and Mooseheads general manager Cam Russell says the Herd have sent sniper Luca Ciampini to Baie Comeau for a second round pick next year.

Russell wouldn’t confirm much else to News 95.7.

“We aren’t into trading just for the sake of making ourselves look busy,” said Russell.  “We are in some discussions, but more than anything, we’re gearing up for our draft tomorrow.”

Russell added fans can count on one thing for sure, Zach Fucale will stay in Moose Country next season.

“He was the best goalie in the league last year, and there’s no way we’re going to part with him right now,” said Russell.

Russell said the Mooseheads are targeting a specific type of player in tomorrow’s draft and added they will pick the best player they can get when they pick 21st overall.
