Nova Centre developer sues Heritage Trust

Halifax developer Joe Ramia is taking legal action against the Heritage Trust of Nova Scotia.

Argyle Developments has filed suit in Nova Scotia Supreme Court against the group, and its board of directors.

The developer says this is being done to protect the integrity of the convention centre’s construction schedule, and to meet its obligations to tenants for occupancy late next year.

Ramia’s company believes the heritage group is trying to stall construction of the Nova Centre and it is claiming damages from the organization saying if time periods aren’t met, the developer will face serious financial consequences.

Heritage Trust has applied to the court for a judicial review of council’s decision to approve the final plans for the building, arguing the design is too big and violates historic views of the Halifax Harbour from Citadel Hill.
