Third Bus Terminal assault suspect arrested and charged

HALIFAX – A third suspect has been arrested in an assault earlier this month on a Halifax Transit bus driver.

Halifax Regional Police had released an image of a person they were looking for and they announced Wednesday they’ve located and charged a man.

19-year-old Tyere Brushett of Dartmouth was in Dartmouth Provincial court Wednesday where he was arraigned on charges of assault causing bodily harm and breach of a probation order.

On July 8 at 9:20 p.m., officers responded to the bus terminal on Nantucket Avenue after a 44-year-old bus driver tried to stop two girls from fighting. He ended up being surrounded, knocked to the ground and then kicked in the face. He ended up being treated in hospital for his injuries.

The people who assaulted him took off and two of them were arrested and charged within a day.

Police are thanking the public for their help in the investigation.
