A 38-year-old man is expected to face charges next month for allegedly assaulting staff members at the Community Transition Program in Lower Sackville’s Quest Rehabilitation Centre.
Dorothy Edem, a manager of the special care program at Quest, said police were called in as a last resort after a the resident allegedly attacked four employees at the care facility.
“We only call police when we know that with the help of police, it will help manage and mitigate the abrasion,” she said.
RCMP Cpl. Greg Church said the man will be appearing in court on Sept. 24 to face charges.
“They had reasonable and probable grounds to believe an offence had been committed, therefore, they issued the accused with an appearance notice for charges of assault.”
The 16-bed Community Transition Program is operated by Capital Health and Halifax’s Quest Society.
The Quest facility is already going through a review process after a 56-year-old resident died in an altercation with another resident, last May.
