Timberlea fire burns house down, cause being investigated

A fire this morning in Timberlea has burned a home to the ground, and firefighters are still on scene putting out hot spots and looking into the cause of the blaze.

Division commander Charles Bezanson told News 95.7 about six crew members were on scene extinguishing this morning’s blaze on Spruce Brook Lane.

“Currently, we have one engine and our investigation unit on scene. We’re finishing extinguishing some hot spots.”

He said the cause of the fire, which took down a vacant home undergoing renovations, is unknown right now.

“It’s far, far too early to make that kind of a distinguishment. We’re at the very beginning stages, so it would be too early to say.”

He said the investigation is just getting underway right now.

Earlier today, a firefighter had to be taken to the hospital for what Bezanson said were “precautionary reasons.”

Bezanson said they’ve been there since just after 3 a.m., and he expects the hot spots to be fully put out within a couple hours.
