Tantallon RCMP arrived at the scene of a single-vehicle motorcycle crash at around 7:30 yesterday evening, where a 24-year-old man had lost control of his bike on Prospect Rd. between Peggy’s Cove and West Dover.
Staff Sgt. Amy Matchett said nothing could be done to help the man when they got there.
“The members responded and found one male unconscious on the side of the road,” she said. “According to witnesses at the scene, he had lost control and went into the embankment.”
She said the man was pronounced dead at the scene at the crash.
Matchett said he had been driving towards Halifax on Prospect Rd., and said they’re still looking into the cause of the crash.
“We don’t believe alcohol was a factor. As for speed, we have a traffic analyst on the scene, so that’s still under investigation.”
She said the victim’s family requested that his name not be released.
“We respect their right to privacy; their wishes, especially at a time like this.”
The area of Prospect Rd. was closed off to traffic for three hours following the accident.
