Hiker rescued from Hubley area

A 20-year-old woman was rescued from a hiking trip gone bad in the Hubley area Tuesday evening.

Tantallon RCMP say the call came in around 4 p.m. to assist the woman, who had been hiking with a group from the Environmental Education Centre.

She was reported to be in medical distress, and the military’s Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) dispatched air search and rescue to the scene around 5:30 p.m.

The woman was taken to CFB Shearwater, then transported to hospital by EHS.

Police had no update on her condition Wednesday morning. Her fellow hikers “were able to return to their canoes and hike out to their pick-up point,” according to a statement from the RCMP.
