Halifax RCMP say a sewing pin has been found in a second chocolate bar in Cole Harbour.
Corporal Greg Church told News 95.7, the bar was picked up while an Astral Drive Junior High student was trick-or-treating in the same area where another reported case of candy tampering occurred.
The student brought the candy to school administration, who contacted an RCMP School Liaison Officer.
“Parents and trick-or-treaters must continue to remain vigilant, check all candy, all other treats prior to consumption,” Church recommended.
On Sunday, a 14-year-old girl found a pin hidden inside of a Wunderbar she picked up Halloween night while in the area of Cole Harbour’s Astral Drive and Stratford Drive.
Church said this is a difficult case to investigate, but police are using a number of avenues to try and track the origin of the tampered candy.
Neither child was injured.
Police in Cape Breton are investigating a similar case, a North Sydney family also reported finding a sewing-type needle in a chocolate bar.
Anyone with information on tampered candy is asked to contact an RCMP Detachment, local police or Crime Stoppers.
