After numerous break-ins at the Nova Centre construction site in downtown Halifax, there is word now that more security will be added.
David Rock, the site manager for EllisDon Construction, tells Metro Halifax a second security guard will probably be posted to the area overnight. There is already one guard who monitors the area from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
The most recent incident at the site involved two drunk men who climbed to the top of one of the cranes at 4:30 a.m. on Sunday.
There was another incident in September where two men were spotted on a crane overnight, and News 95.7 spoke with a man who said he had climbed a crane without getting caught.
Regional Police tell Metro the added security is welcome.
Const. Pierre Bourdages tells Metro he’s relieved to hear the news, adding the site is the largest in the city and home to a number of dangers.
