Man charged with Ponzi scheme extradited from Panama

A man charged in an alleged Ponzi scheme has been extradited back to Canada.

Police say Quintin Earl Sponagle fled to Panama while he was under investigation for fraud and theft.

He was arrested by authorities in that country in 2013, where he has been in custody while appealing his return.

Earlier this week, RCMP travelled to Panama to bring the 50-year-old back to Nova Scotia.

Sponagle has been charged with defrauding 179 investors of over $4-million, he will appear in Windsor court today.
