Michael Kydd has resigned from his position as president of the Merit Nova Scotia contracting firm.
Kydd, who until Thursday was also a part-time instructor at Mount Saint Vincent University, resigned from that job after it was revealed he had exchanged graphic text messages with a female student.
Kydd says the relationship between him and the 38-year-old student was consensual.
