Halifax could be hit by big snow storm Sunday

Forecasters are keeping their eyes on a low pressure system set to hit on Sunday.

Meteorologist Richard Zurawski said the system will arrive early morning.

“It’s going to start at about 2 or 3 o’clock in the morning on Sunday and then continue through the day, then taper off in the afternoon,” said Zurawski.

He said this could be a significant storm.

“The big question is are we going to get some rain with this or freezing rain with this disturbance,” said Zurawski.  “Right now, it’s looking like 20 to 30 centimetres of snow and wind.”

As for today’s snowfall, Zurawski said we’ll get about 5 centimeters of snow, and later on it’s going to be very windy and cold.
