Collisions clog morning commute

Halifax Regional Police were kept busy dealing with a number of collisions during the morning commute.

HRP and Halifax RCMP responded to around 35 crashes this morning as the first snow storm of March creating slippery driving conditions during morning rush hour.

Regional police spokesperson Pierre Bourdages told News 95.7 a flipped over vehicle on Agricola at Ontario closed that intersection for a while.

“An SUV collided with a car at that location,” said Bourdages.  “The SUV is on its side, there are no injuries.”

Bourdages is urging drivers to be responsible on the snow covered roads this morning and to remain vigilant on the drive home.

“It’s tricky out there, the roads are snow covered,” he said.  “It is slippery, take extra time and please slow down.”

During the height of the commute, traffic ground to a halt on all of the major routes into Halifax, increasing drive times for some by about an hour.
