Museums, libraries and rec centres offering March Break activities

March Break is underway, as children across the province enjoy a week away from school.

The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is offering a wide variety of family-friendly activities during the break.

Marketing and events officer Jenny Nodelman told News 95.7 one of the main features of ‘March Break at Sea!’ is Raina the Mermaid, who will have story-telling, poems and songs.

“We’re also doing an underwater archeology dig, next to Raina the Mermaid, where people can learn more about what they can find in the ocean,” said Nodelman.

Halifax spokesperson Tiffany Chase said area libraries also have events to keep kids busy this week.

“We would encourage you to contact the individual library that you would normally go to, or check out their great website, which lists the range of programs they have available for March Break,” she said.  “I think there’s a little something for everyone.”

Another free family activity is the Emera Oval, and Chase said this is the last week it will be open for ice skating this season, with its last day of operation scheduled for Friday.

She added Haligonians can also check their local community and recreational centres for more programs and events.
