When the next municipal election rolls around, Haligonians may notice one familiar face missing along the campaign trail.
When Rick Howe asked Gloria McCluskey if she’ll be running in the 2016 election, she replied, “I probably will not.”
The 84-year-old has been the Halifax Regional Municipality councillor for Dartmouth Centre since 2004, McCluskey also served as the mayor of Dartmouth from 1992 until amalgamation in 1996.
“I took 5-days all summer that I didn’t answer my phone,” she said. “I love my job but the time will come, and some people will say, ‘It’s about time’.”
McCluskey said during her political career, she has strived to work hard, represent the people, be honest, be fair and speak her mind.
