Concerned residents meet over controversial Fall River quarry

A number of politicians and concerned residents showed up at Ash Lee Jefferson School in Fall River Wednesday night to discuss a controversial quarry proposed in the area.

The meeting was help by the group, ‘Stop the Fall River Quarry,’ and was intended to give residents a chance to learn about the groups appeal of a recent approval of a quarry development for Scotian Materials Ltd.

The project received approval from the province last month.

Group spokesperson Stacey Rudderham told Metro Halifax, the group will hand their appeal to the Environment Minister in person.

Rudderham said since the project received approval the public interest in the area has grown with people who want more information about the appeal process.

A rally is expected to be held outside of province house in Halifax on Thursday, Nov. 12.
