HALIFAX – A bail hearing for a 22-year-old man charged in the death of a fellow student at Dalhousie University started Wednesday in a packed Halifax court.
William Sandeson was charged with first-degree murder on Aug. 20, four days after Taylor Samson was reported missing in Halifax and his body has not been found.
In Nova Scotia Supreme Court, a Judge ordered a publication ban on the evidence being presented.
Sandeson, who appeared in court wearing a blue check shirt, is a varsity track athlete who was about to start classes at Dalhousie’s medical school when he was charged.
Samson, a 22-year-old former resident of Amherst, N.S., studied physics at the university.
The hearing is scheduled to continue on Thursday.
