HALIFAX – A new group is hoping to help people who have suffered brain injuries in Nova Scotia.
The 13-member Acquired Brain Injury Advisory Group is being chaired by members of the Brain Injury Association of Nova Scotia and the Department of Health and Wellness.
The group will provide input and make recommendations to the minister of health and wellness.
The province is due to develop an acquired brain injury strategy by summer 2016.
It’s estimated that up to 60,000 Nova Scotians have an acquired brain injury, which can cause changes in cognitive, physical, emotional or behavioural abilities.
