HALIFAX – Over 150 executives are gathering at the Westin Nova Scotia Monday morning for a workplace safety summit.
Leadership Matters 2015: A Workplace Safety CEO Summit, is being moderated by Engage Nova Scotia CEO Danny Graham, and begins at 7:30 a.m.
It’s hosted by Labour and Advanced Education Minister Kelly Regan and Workplace Compensation Board Nova Scotia’s CEO Stuart MacLean.
MacLean said the summit designed to bring leaders together to discuss how best address issues of workplace safety.
“The Ivany report talks about people being the most important resource we have in this province,” MacLean said.
“We need that resource to be healthy, and we need them to be protected … so they can go home safe to their family.”
McLean said workplace safety plays an essential role in Nova Scotia’s future prosperity and financial sustainability, as the province loses about 6,000 hours of time-loss due to injuries every year.
