Rain could hold off until after Remembrance Day ceremonies

Tomorrow the country will pause to remember the sacrifices made by Canadian soldiers.

A low pressure system is on its way to Nova Scotia and rain and wind are forecast for Remembrance Day, but NEWS 95.7 meteorologist Richard Zurawski said we could get lucky.

“What’s going to happen is it’s going to be mostly cloudy tomorrow morning, and with any luck the rain and the wind will hold off until the afternoon,” Zurawski explained.

“Right now it looks like late morning or early afternoon we’re going to start getting some rain and drizzle and the wind will be picking up to 70 km/hr.”

He added even if it does rain, temperatures remain above normal with the daytime high for Wednesday expected to be 9 or 10 degrees.

Halifax Transit will be operating on a holiday schedule and offering up free rides to veterans and military personnel tomorrow, those wanting to take the bus or ferry need to be in uniform or to show their military identification.

Those driving to Remembrance Day ceremonies can park at metered spaces for free and without fear of a ticket as long as long as motorist obey posted signs.

Several ceremonies are planned throughout the region, and the municipality is reminding people there will be a number of rolling street closures and other traffic delays tomorrow as processions make their way to locations throughout HRM, delays could go as late as 12:30 p.m.

They say traffic could be delayed in those areas as late as 12:30 p.m.
