DARTMOUTH — Halifax District RCMP are investigating the theft of a backhoe.

Police received a complaint Thursday morning of a stolen backhoe from a fenced compound on Caldwell Road in Dartmouth.

Investigators say the backhoe was stolen around 7:30 Wednesday evening and was driven away from the compound on its own power along Caldwell Road toward Cole Harbour.

The backhoe is described as a yellow 1998 Caterpillar model, and has Nova Scotia tractor license plate number: GT34739.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Halifax District RCMP non-emergency line at (902) 244-7208, or Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
