HALIFAX – Drivers in Nova Scotia received an early Christmas gift Friday, as provincially regulated gas prices dropped by 5.6 cents per litre.
The province’s Utility and Review Board used their weekly adjustment to move the minimum price down to 94.1 cents per litre.
The change in price means that a 50 litre fill-up is now $2.80 cheaper than it was on Thursday.
Diesel prices saw a smaller drop, sliding down by just 9/10th of one cent to a new minimum price of 97.8 cents per litre.
At this time last year, Nova Scotians were paying $1.02 per litre for gasoline, $1.15 per litre for diesel and oil was trading at $59.58 US per barrel. That’s about $23 more than Thursday’s closing price for oil, or $36.64 US.
