Gas price expected to slightly increase

HALIFAX – Nova Scotia’s gas prices are expected to increase slightly overnight Friday.

News 95.7 predicts prices will go up roughly one cent per litre when the Utility and Review Board makes their weekly adjustment.

George Murphy of Consumers for Fair Gas Prices said despite the slight increase, he expects prices will begin to drop in early 2016 based on increasing inventory numbers.

“Gasoline may have been effected by people buying up for Christmas travel, that sort of thing,” Murphy said.

“I expect those numbers to backing down again in the next week. So don’t look at this as being a trend of any kind upward.”

In New Brunswick, prices are up by two tenths of a cent per litre on Friday morning, with that province’s regulator moving the maximum price per litre up to 99.2 cents.
