Halifax man arrested for attempted murder after 2 months on the run

HALIFAX – A Halifax man wanted for attempted murder and several other charges is back in Nova Scotia following two months on the run.

Arnelle Wellington Ellison, 24, was arrested by Toronto Police on Tuesday and returned to Halifax to face charges of attempted murder, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of breaching court orders.

The charges stem from a violent incident in the north end on Oct. 21. Police were called to the area of Artz Street and Brunswick Street after a 46-year-old man was struck in the head with a blunt object during an altercation around 4 p.m.

The victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and was released from hospital a week later. The suspect fled the scene.

Ellison has been remanded to the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility until his appearance in Halifax provincial court on Monday.
