Rainfall, wind warning issued for the Halifax-area

HALIFAX – A wind warning has been issued for the Halifax-area in addition to a rainfall warning that remains in effect for the region as heavy rain and winds are expected beginning Sunday night.

A low pressure system is expected to cross Nova Scotia on Sunday night into Monday, according to Environment Canada, bringing with it possible wind gusts of up to 90 km/h and between 25 to 40 millimetres of rain.

The government weather agency issued the rainfall warning on Saturday because of the heavy rain expected, and issued the wind warning because of a significant risk of damaging winds.

The heavy rainfall and winds could bring localized flooding in low-lying areas and damage to buildings.
