HALIFAX – Nova Scotia’s Premier has added a former Progressive Conservative MLA to his caucus.

Premier Stephen McNeil announced Wednesday that Chuck Porter, originally elected in 2006 as a PC member of Hants West, will now sit as a member of the Liberal caucus.

Porter left the PCs nearly two years ago, in June 2014, citing leadership issues within the party as the main reason for his departure.

Karen Casey was last PC member to cross the floor to the current Liberals in 2011, when she was a candidate for the party’s leadership.
