Hot Docs to welcome features on Anthony Weiner, Norman Lear, and Gary Numan

TORONTO – Documentaries about ’80s pop star Gary Numan, TV guru Norman Lear, and disgraced politician Anthony Weiner are headed to Toronto’s Hot Docs film festival.
Organizers revealed 15 features on the way, including the Sundance award-winner “Weiner,” about the ex-congressman.
Also in the lineup are: “Gary Numan: Android in La La Land,” which follows the electro-pop pioneer as he emerges from depression to return to the stage, and “Norman Lear: Just Another Version of You,” which looks at the man behind the groundbreaking sitcoms “All In the Family,” “Maude” and “Good Times.”
“Thank You Del: The Story of the Del Close Marathon” is a tribute to the comedy giant with appearances by famous students including Amy Poehler and Bill Murray, while “Strike a Pose” revisits the dancers from Madonna’s 1991 concert doc “Truth or Dare.”
Meanwhile, the Canadian doc “I Am the Blues” dives into smoky juke joints and spirited church halls in the U.S. south in search of “the last of the original blues legends.”
The Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival runs April 28 to May 8.
