Gas prices expected to slightly increase

HALIFAX – Gas prices in Nova Scotia are expected to be on their way up this week but not by a whole lot.

News 95.7 predicts when the UARB makes its adjustment at midnight, prices will increase by about a penny per litre.

While there is speculation that gasoline prices could see a significant jump as we head into spring, George Murphy of Consumers for Fair Gas Prices can play a role in keeping prices the way the are.

“It’s up to the consumers to make sure to make another impact on inventories by holding back on the gas pedal a little bit and putting the thumbscrews to these speculators a little bit,” Murphy said.

In New Brunswick, prices jumped by 1.6 cents overnight to a new maximum price of 88.8 c/L.
