Rise in gas prices expected at midnight

Look for a big jump at the pump in Nova Scotia this week.

Our newsroom is predicting that when regulated prices are adjusted at midnight, they will jump by about 4 cents per litre.

George Murphy of Consumers for Fair Gas Prices told NEWS 95.7, he blames market speculators for an artificial increase in oil prices.

“There’s plenty of crude out there, there’s no reason for crude prices to be rising as expeditiously as they have been over the last week,” said Murphy.

In New Brunswick, prices jumped by 4.5 cents per litre, moving the maximum price to 93.9.
