Halifax Convention Centre Interim Board, CEO Named

HALIFAX – The province has announced who will lead the way for the Halifax Convention Centre Corporation on Monday.

Deputy minister of business Murray Coolican, and acting Halifax CAO John Traves were named the corporation’s acting board of directors and current Trade Centre Limited president and CEO Scott Ferguson has been appointed president and CEO of the Halifax Convention Centre Corporation.

Coolican says Ferguson brings with him a number of assets the corporation requires at this time.

“The appointment of Mr. Ferguson ensures the new convention centre corporation will have the experience and continuity of leadership we need at this important time,” said Coolican.

Ferguson believes this is an exciting milestone as they continue preparations to open and operate the new Halifax Convention Centre.

“I look forward to continuing to work with our government partners over the next year as we get ready to welcome the world to Halifax,” said Ferguson.

The Halifax Convention Centre is set to open in early 2017.
