Yukon balanced budget predicted as legislature returns before expected election

WHITEHORSE – It’s budget day in Yukon as the spring session of the Yukon Legislative Assembly gets underway.
This is expected to be the final session before Premier Darrell Pasloski calls a general election.
Pasloski, who is also the territory’s finance minister, delivers the 2016 budget Thursday afternoon.
On Wednesday, he hinted to a Whitehorse business audience that the document will be balanced and contain no new taxes.
He said the capital budget will come in at about $300 million, and promised spending on infrastructure, tourism, education, and training.
During the final session, Opposition parties say they will press for action on issues such as First Nations relations, energy, and education. (CKRW)
