All clear after lockdown at Lockview HS

FALL RIVER — Students were dismissed later than usual Tuesday at Lockview High School in Fall River after the school received information from RCMP in Halifax District about a possible threat to the school.

Halifax Regional School Board spokesperson Doug Hadley said RCMP advised the school to go into a lockdown at around 3:10 p.m.

“Police arrived approximately 15 minutes later. They did a sweep of the area and of the building and determined that there was no threat present at the time.”

Hadley confirmed that students were held until the sweep was complete, which turned up nothing.

All students were safe and accounted for before being dismissed Tuesday just after 4 o’clock, with the dismissal complete at 4:15 p.m.

The school hoped to communicate with parents late Tuesday to provide more details on the delayed dismissal.

No word on the nature of any threat received by RCMP.
