Nova Scotia’s Eric Gillis finishes top 10 in men’s marathon

HALIFAX – Canadian Eric Gillis finished 10th in the men’s marathon Sunday, the last day of the Rio Olympics.

Gillis, from Antigonish, N.S., finished in two hours 12 minutes 29 seconds, just off the Canadian record set by Toronto’s Jerome Drayton in 1975.

Canadian Reid Coolsaet finished 23rd.

Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya, Feyisa Lilesa of Ethiopia and Galen Rupp of the United States claimed gold, silver and bronze respectively.
