HALIFAX – It’s St. Patrick’s Day, and that means a good number of Haligonians are set to sport their finest green outfits to honour the popular Irish holiday
But if you think you can drink and drive, relying on the luck of the Irish to avoid detection, think again.
Police are asking people to make sure they celebrate responsibly.
RCMP Cpl. Dal Hutchinson tells news 95.7 if there’s one piece of advice he would offer, it would be to plan ahead.
“Make sure you have a drive home at the end of the night, put a plan in place,” said Hutchinson. He added if you’re going somewhere without access to taxis or buses, plan to spend the night rather than risking a tipsy drive home.
Both HRP and RCMP will be increasing their presence throughout the region Friday, with traffic spots and check points.
Hutchinson says he hopes people keep safety in mind, as the RCMP do not want to see anyone become a statistic.
