Some of the most active companies traded Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (15,160.42, down 9.71 points):

ENTREC Corporation. (TSX:ENT). Transportation and Logistics. Down 2.5 cents, or 14.29 per cent, to 15 cents on 6.9 million shares.

Spartan Energy Corp. (TSX:SPE). Oil and gas. Down four cents, or 1.99 per cent, to $1.97 on 5.8 million shares.

Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Oil and gas. Down 66 cents, or 5.35 per cent, to $11.67 on 5.7 million shares.

Toronto-Dominion Bank (TSX:TD). Bank. Up 28 cents, or 0.43 per cent, to $64.99 on 5.7 million shares.

Trican Well Service Ltd. (TSX:TCW). Oil and gas. Down 28 cents, or 6.93 per cent, to $3.76 on 5.4 million shares.

Cenovus Energy Inc. (TSX:CVE). Oil and gas. Down 48 cents, or 4.38 per cent, to $10.47 on 4.9 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Home Capital Group Inc. (TSX:HCG). Financial Services. Up $1.54, or 12.7 per cent, to $13.67 on 3.8 million shares. Company shares were up Thursday since it reached settlements in two cases that could have complicated efforts to recover from a damaging loss in investor confidence. The Toronto-based mortgage lender’s stock rose $1.83 to $13.95 per share shortly after markets opened. The rebound in the stock follows an announcement late Wednesday that Home Capital has agreed to pay $30.5 million to settle a class-action lawsuit and a matter before the Ontario Securities Commission concerning allegations of misleading disclosure.
