Former university groundskeeper facing third sexual assault charge

By Meghan Groff

A former Saint Mary's University groundskeeper is now accused of sexual assaulting a third woman over three years ago.

Halifax Regional Police received a complaint on December 8, 2014 from a woman who said she had been sexually assaulted by a man she knew two days earlier at a Lemarchant Street residence.

After an investigation, the file was closed without charges, however it was reopened by police about three weeks ago.

Matthew Albert Percy, 34, of Halifax has been charged with sexual assault causing bodily harm.

Percy already faces charges after reports of two sexual assaults last year.

One alleged incident happened at an Armdale-area residence on September 3rd, the other at a Saint Mary's University dormitory on September 15.

Percy appeared in court Thursday and has been remanded into custody until his next court appearance.
