Special weather statement ends, storm surge warning in effect (update)

Environment Canada says high storm surge levels and large waves are expected to impact Nova Scotia's coast.
Forecasters say an intense low pressure system south of the province will drift southeastward today creating large waves and pounding surf.
Parts of the Atlantic coast, from Halifax to Shelburne counties, are expected to be impacted by the weather today and tonight.
Environment Canada expects during high tide tonight, the waves and surf will combine with higher than normal water levels to cause some coastal flooding in vulnerable area.
It says those in or near this area should be on the lookout for adverse weather conditions and take necessary safety precautions.
“Of note, astronomical high tides will be running high during this period of elevated water levels adding to a risk of coastal flooding especially during Saturday's second high tide,” says Environment Canada.
