Worker dies after falling at Burnside area work site (update)

The province's Department of Labour has confirmed that a worker has died from injuries after falling at a work site in the Burnside area Tuesday morning.

Halifax Regional Police say it happened just after 10 a.m. at Kent Building Supplies at 680 Cutler Ave., which is under construction.

They say the 22-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The Department of Labour says their occupational health and safety division is investigating and they've placed a stop work order on working at heights at the site.

“As this is an ongoing investigation and out of respect for privacy, we are unable to provide any further details,” they said in an emailed statement.
