Environment Canada issues weather alert for Halifax

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement in effect for Halifax Metro and Halifax County West.
A combination of warm air and high dew points associated with rainfall events will give some high humidex values beginning Friday.
A warm airmass will settle in over the Maritimes late this week, combined with some precipitation events, one on Friday and a second one early next week, says Environment Canada. At this point model guidance suggests that humidex values on Friday will stay below warning criteria, with a range of about 27-33C.
For the rest of the weekend, model guidance indicates a continuing warming trend and an increasing chance of warning level conditions into the weekend.”
The highest humidex values are likely to be on Monday, and some guidance indicate it could persist until Tuesday or Wednesday. The highest humidex numbers could reach 38C, especially for mainland Nova Scotia.
At this time there is moderate confidence that heat warnings will be issued for at least part of the province by this weekend.
