Halifax Water announced on Twitter overnight that water service has been restored on Grafton and Blowers Streets and the streets reopened.
James Campbell says that Halifax Water was notified of the break at around 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
Campbell, a Spokesperson for Halifax Water says there was a lot of infrastructure in the area, making it a tough fix.
“There can be other buried utilities such as Nova Scotia Power, Heritage Gas and some phone company lines down there so we don't want to damage their stuff while we're doing our dig,” he said. “There's a lot of other stuff packed into that dig site unfortunately.”
