Long Pond, Springfield and Kinap beaches reopen (update)

By Meghan Groff

Those looking to cool down by taking a dip can once again head to Long Pond, Springfield and Kinap beaches.

Halifax Regional Municipality said follow-up tests at those swimming spots show the water is safe for the public.

As of 1 p.m. Monday, Albro Lake, Government Wharf and Kinsman beaches remain closed.

Tests at those beaches have shown bacteria levels in the water exceed Health Canada guidelines.

The water quality is regularly tested at all supervised beaches in HRM over the summer.

Residents can check the status of their favourite municipal beach online.
