‘When in doubt, yield,’ say RCMP

Failing to yield or turning left into oncoming traffic has been a factor in four fatal collisions and another 11 which caused serious injuries between April and August in our province.
Nova Scotia RCMP said these types of crashes are preventable if drivers safely yield.
“When drivers make the choice to safely yield rather than rush through a left turn, they are choosing to prioritize everyone's safety,” said Cst. Chad Morrison in a news release. “When in doubt, yield.”
Mounties add it's also important to be on the lookout for motorcycles.
Failing to yield could come with a $180 fine for a first offence, $237.50 for a second and $352.50 for subsequent offences.
“Police would also like to thank the many motorists who prioritize safety by yielding every day,” RCMP said.
