By CityNews Halifax Staff

It was a busy morning for local police as two local high school were placed on hold and secure Friday.

The Halifax Regional Education Centre said Halifax West High School was placed on lockdown, then hold and secure for about 30  minutes.

“Prior to the start of our day, we received information from a student concerned about a potential threat to the school,” HRCE said in a message sent to parents. “We immediately called 911. All students and staff are safe.”

Halifax Regional Police determined there was no threat and classes have resumed at the Clayton Park school.

There was also a police presence at Auburn High School Friday morning.

The Halifax Regional Education Centre said the school was placed on a hold and secure, which was lifted at lunch time.

RCMP had said they were investigating a student complaint, but say they have now cleared the scene.

Afternoon classes will go as usual Friday afternoon at the Cole Harbour school.

Police do not believe the incidents are related.

Mounties were also at nearby Cole Harbour High School as a precaution, but HRCE said there was no threat to that school and it was not placed under a hold and secure.
