Applications open for annual Cape Breton moose hunt

Nova Scotians can apply for the annual moose licence lottery starting today, May 17.
This year 345 licences will be available in five moose-management zones within Victoria and Inverness counties, the only counties where moose hunting is permitted.
To be eligible, an applicant must qualify as a resident of Nova Scotia, have a Nova Scotia Wildlife Resources Card and be at least 18 years old by Sept. 17. Hunters who held a moose hunting licence in the last five years, 2014-2018, cannot apply this year.
Applications are accepted 24 hours a day, seven days a week until midnight, June 7. For an application fee of $9.25 (HST included), hunters can apply online at, http://novascotia.ca/natr/draws/moosedraw or by calling 1-900-565-3337 from a landline phone.
Online applications require a Visa or Mastercard. Phone applications will be directly billed to your landline phone.
